License to Freedom was founded in 2002 as a grassroots initiative to help refugee women gain independence by teaching them how to drive. What began as a small effort to provide driver’s education quickly grew into a trusted community resource, and over the past two decades, License to Freedom has become one of San Diego County’s leading ethnic community-based organizations. Today, the organization offers a comprehensive range of trauma-informed services, including domestic violence advocacy, mental health counseling, crisis response, education, and case management.
